Fourth year students of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Design, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Advertising and related courses can begin applying today for Summer Job scholarships at CESAR’s Headquarters and its regional offices, or via the project site: http://summerjob.cesar.org.br
CESAR will provide the students with a total of R$ 2,000.00 (two thousand reais) over the six weeks of the project, paid in two instalments: 50% on the first week of the program and 50% on the last week. It will also provide, free of charge to the selected student, round trip air tickets from his / her city of residence to the CESAR unit chosen for participation in the program, limited to flights within Brazil.
The candidate must be enrolled in a higher education institution with a course completion date equal to or greater than December 2019, have 40 hours available per week to dedicate to the program, have an entrepreneurial profile and great interest in technologies and innovation. Fluent or advanced English is required, as most of the reading will be done in that language.
The student can apply to participate in the program in Recife-PE, at CESAR’s Headquarters, as well as in the regional offices of the innovation center in Sorocaba-SP, Curitiba-PR or Manaus-AM. At the time of application, the candidate may indicate up to three options in order of preference. For the 2019 edition, the student may also choose to participate in CESAR Summer Job in Foz do Iguaçu – PR, at PTI or in Recife-PE, at ISI-TICs.
The Summer Job Program allows for students to get hands-on experience in the technology field, as well as enhancing skills, identifying talents and providing a fast-paced experimentation environment for sponsoring companies. The teams are made up by four participants from different courses, such as: Computer Science and Engineering, Design, Administration, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Advertising and Marketing, among others. This edition, which will be held in English, is open to the participation of students from other countries.
Each team will be challenged based on real business issues – either a problem or an opportunity – and over six weeks the students will need to devise a solution, prototype and validate their choice. The challenges are proposed by the sponsoring companies, which will be able to obtain solutions for real and current problems of their operations.
CESAR offers tutoring, methodologies and the expertise of its professional team. Students are free to define the best solution for the challenge they receive, immersed in a real environment of design and development of innovation projects, all the while having a scholarship for expenses during the program.
“The Summer Job project is ideal for students with an entrepreneurial soul seeking personal enhancement and market experience. Throughout the Program, the participants will be focused on solving a challenge from the sponsoring company alongside a highly qualified technical team”, explains CESAR Chief Design Officer Eduardo Peixoto. “One of the great extraordinary differences in the Program is that we have sponsoring companies that will come up with diverse challenges on which the students will have to work, as well as real market directives”, says Peixoto. “The Summer Job sponsoring companies also benefit, since the prototypes generated during the activities can be implemented and become innovative products,” he explains.
CESAR has been running Summer Job editions since 2012. Some of the companies sponsoring the last editions were Fedex Express, Grupo Boticário, Gerdau, Unilever, Globo, Grupo Cornélio Brennand, FCA – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, among others. The program has already had the participation of students from ITA, UFPE, Insper (SP), USP (SP), PUC-Rio (RJ), UEA (AM), UFJF (MG), UPE, Universidade Católica de Pernambuco and UFPB.
